When one of your favourite New Zealand designers introduces you to one of her favourite suppliers, you sense something meaningful is about to unfold.

That was the case when renowned kitchen designer Annika Rowson of Rowson Kitchens connected us with VidaSpace - a specialty wood and panel brand known for depth, innovation and material integrity.

One meeting confirmed it. If we were to collaborate, it needed to be a show-stopper. We agreed that a bespoke fragrance that communicated the VidaSpace brand in scent was the only way to go.

Spending time immersed in the VidaSpace story, learning about their technical development, their reverence for timber,  and the quiet confidence of their showroom, allowed us to consider what fragrance would best reflect the brand.

Under the passionate brand leadership of Ahlia McKenzie, the vision was clear. This was not about simply “smelling like wood,” it was about capturing atmosphere, texture and emotion to evoke a physical reaction.

Together, we moved through a detailed briefing process exploring notes, feelings, memories and associations before collaborating with our expert perfumers in France to develop initial compositions.

Several exceptional options emerged… each complex, addictive and entirely worthy of both the RAAD® and VidaSpace mark.

It was a satisfying moment when we ultimately selected Halcyon & Forêt…

Then came burn testing, which is far more technical than many realise.

This candle would be gifted to some of New Zealand’s most discerning clients, so it needed to perform impeccably and embody the brand’s ethos. The VidaSpace team approached testing with genuine care and instinctive understanding of their brand standards.

The result is a rave-worthy, limited-edition candle, available exclusively through VidaSpace. Housed in black gloss stainless steel and carrying both brand marks in quiet alignment, it is architectural and restrained. While the presence of wood is undeniable, the experience is deeper than timber alone… it’s an indulgent narrative of material, craft and considered design that pays homage to its muse.

The scent of a wild forest where golden light filters through cedar wood towers and moss grows underfoot. This captivating composition opens with decadent, gourmand balsamic and sage, before evolving into buttery leather and deep patchouli. The slow-burn release unfolds into velvety sandalwood, creamy amber and succulent vanilla… leaving you lost in halcyon days.
