Smoking oak is a traditional craft that transforms timber veneer into something truly distinctive that standard oak simply can’t match. During the process, ammonia vapours react with the natural tannins in the timber, creating rich, deep colour that penetrates through the full thickness of the timber veneer. Because each tree carries a different tannin content, every sheet develops its own tonal variation, giving smoked timber veneers their unmistakable character and movement.
