A New Era: VidaSpace launches ALT™

At VidaSpace the essence of our identity is having a deep appreciation for enduring materials, innovation, and great design. Our purpose is to push boundaries and support the A&D community in New Zealand, hence our brand tagline and mission statement “Empowering Ambitious Design”. We identify as innovative, brave, and always open to taking the path less travelled. We aren’t afraid to be different, and we aren’t limited to our past. One of our commonly quoted mantras is “what got us here, won’t get us there”.

The launch of ALT™ by VidaSpace marks a milestone in our history and carves the path for our future. The first product ranges in the ALT™ brand’s toolbelt define a new era in decorative panels on the New Zealand market. The purpose was to bring design and innovation excellence, as well as a little fun into a mostly mediocre market. From when we decided to enter the decorative panel market, to the launch of ALT™ was a 20-month R&D expedition where we literally travelled the world to find the best innovation in this space, which we ultimately found in Belgium, Europe. The overall journey was even longer if you include the months of gathering feedback from clients – candid conversations about where the market was falling short, and asking what we could explore that would meaningfully support and empower their designs.

Our respect for craft, sustainability, and organic materials was paramount in the development of ALT™, now made up by the MasterOak, SolidVelvet, and DesignForm ranges. Entirely sustainably sourced and manufactured, the ALT™ ranges have externally verified EPD and third-party sustainability certifications, demonstrating the positive environmental impact during their entire life cycle. The MDF in ALT™ wood-based panels is CARB2 certified and made from 100% recovered wood from the industry. ALT™ HPL is the first of its kind to receive Cradle to Cradle Bronze v4.0 certification, and additionally ALT™ MasterOak is manufactured using world-first patented technology.

Fittingly, the ALT™ tagline is “Challenge the Ordinary”. At VidaSpace, we believe every space tells a story, and the materials within it should speak with intention. That’s why we exist: to empower designers by delivering innovative, high-performance finishes – no longer limited to just wooden surfaces. This is the evolution of VidaSpace.
